Description

Materiae apocryphorum is a companion resource to NASSCAL's e-Clavis: Christian Apocrypha. It catalogues artifacts of material and visual culture related to Christian apocrypha that supplement the textual witnesses. Entries carry ECMA unique identifiers and are grouped by object type: pilgrimage souvenirs, sarcophagi, architectural and painted decoration (fresco cycles, altarpieces, mosaics, icons), devotional objects, liturgical implements, decorated book covers, and miscellaneous sites. Coverage ranges from Late Antique ampullae and catacomb painting to Medieval and Early Modern retables and church cycles across the Mediterranean and Europe.
